Campaign Story
Hello! Our names are Mason and Karianne. Our pregnancy journey started back in 2020 when we found out we were pregnant with our first! Unfortunately, life had other plans and we missed carried at 7 weeks. My husband (boyfriend at the time) had never wanted kids, so naturally I had finally began to accept having a baby would never be a part of our lives and then surprise! We never knew how much we wanted to be parents until we saw two pink lines. Naturally when we missed carried we were devastated. After the miscarriage we decided to wait to try since we were recently engaged and wanted to focus on our wedding. Two months to the day after we said “I do” I rushed my husband to the ER. He had been feeling very sick for about a month. While in the ER my husband went from bad to worse and eventually coded and needed to be resuscitated. The doctors told me Mason’s heart was extremely weak and had given out. They had resuscitated him, he was on a ventilator and other life support measures, and stated his condition was critical and we would need to be transported to the cardiac unit in Salt Lake City. They started talking about the possibility of a heart transplant and a very rocky hospital stay. Mason was transported to our main hospital to start ECMO and await transport. By the time I was able to go to up to see after transport he had alrady started improving and all parties agreed to see how he recovers in the surgical ICU. I am pleased to say six days later my husband walked out of that hospital. My husband has AFIB and does not show symptoms when he goes into AFIB. He has had a cardiac ablation and will be on medicine the rest of his life. With all that being said, when he was able to come home we decided to waste no time to start our family. After 18 months of trying and failing we decided to seek help. I have been diagnosed with PCOS and my husband now has low T which is making if very difficult to conceive naturally. When meeting with our fertility specialist we were told our chances of conceiving naturally are very small and IVF would be our best bet to get pregnant. Obviously even with insurance IVF is still very expensive and would appreciate any donation to help us become parents. Thank you for reading our story!
